Thanks Kel, really important point to define what the client sees as recovery and highlights the vast range of what might be considered ‘normal’ thoughts and behaviours around body shape and eating. Kind regards, Susan

Another thought provoking subject. – but handled with your customary care and consideration. I have spent too much time sitting in front of professionals who’ve told me that I’ve failed because I’ve had a relapse in my Eating Disorder because I’ve engaged with disordered thinking and behaviours – whereas if they’d taken your approach and asked me then I would have said that it may not be ideal, but I managed not to disrupt our family Thanksgiving dinner – even if it then took me 4 weeks to get back on track. And lo and behold, what do we have a month later but Christmas – another minefield for us to manouvere. Never underestimate large holiday gatherings, as they are hidden with family dynamics and unresolved stuff. Oh, roll on the Holidays !

Hey Ruth. Thanks for sharing. I’m glad you feel I handle the topic/s with care. Having days or weeks you struggle NEVER means you have failed and I am sorry professionals have said or implied this. Every slip or relapse is an opportunity to learn about yourself, your triggers and your recovery. I hope Thanksgiving and Christmas can have some fun in it for you this year.

Hi Kel – I loved this. One thought though is it would be great to add subtitles – I would love to send this on to my loved one for inspiration but she cannot access it without captions

Hi C, Thanks so much for the comment. I have good news for you. I do have captions on all of my videos. If you click on the video you will see a few icon across the bottom. The white square with the black lines is the one that you click to toggle captions on and off. I will send you an email with a screen shot to show you. 🙂
