If you know me, you’ll know I’m always working on something… but this one feels like a big one. It’s been a long time coming – shaped by years of conversations, frustration, quiet hope, and the belief that the eating disorder field needs to evolve.
And now, I’m finally ready to share it.
I’m launching a new conference!
It’s called VOXED : Voices Of eXperience in Eating Disorders.
And it’s happening in February 2026.
I hope you can help me make this everything it can be!
Please keep reading.
Where it began:
VOXED was planted as a seed back in 2021 when I hosted a small online event during Eating Disorder Awareness Week. It was low-key, not particularly polished, but something about it worked. People came together – therapists, researchers and those with lived experience – in a way that felt very equal. We talked about how we felt about the field, and I was keen to hear what people thought was missing and needed. It turned out that, that very space was what was felt to be missing.
Since then, I’ve kept having those conversations. The ones where someone says, “I wish more people had access to this knowledge.” Or “I don’t feel like I belong in the usual eating disorder conferences as I’m no expert.” Or simply, “I care about this, but I can’t afford to attend these events.”
Then, not too long ago, I was having a conversation with John over at OnlinEvents about this and he said “we could do that together”…and so, here we are; no longer waiting for change or for a space to be created, but creating the space in the very name of the event that planted the seed back in 2021; VOXED is formally launched.
Why is this needed?:
Put simply – because something isn’t working!
I don’t think I’m alone in feeling like a lot of eating disorder events conferences can be difficult to access – financially, logistically, and emotionally. Some feel clinical or closed-off. Others are deeply valuable but pitched at a very specific kind of audience.
But eating disorders don’t just live in clinical services or research settings. They show up in classrooms and clinics, therapy rooms and GP surgeries, family homes and frontline services. And if we want things to change, we need all of those people to be part of the conversation – we need to feel invited to the table to learn, question and contribute. We need to nurture genuine curiosity that in turn can create change.
Some details:
VOXED will be a one-day, fully online event that brings together people from all walks of life—those who work in EDs, those who don’t; those with lived experience, those who support others; those who want to share, and those who want to listen.
It’s designed to be accessible.
Sliding scale tickets (£25–£50).
I don’t want this to be a one-off. I want it to spark something – conversations that last beyond the day, new ways of thinking, new relationships, new momentum.
The call for speaker submissions is now open (here) so I can’t tell you the details just yet – but I have high hopes for accessible knowledge sharing, brave conversations and a sense of community.
But I can’t do it alone:
VOXED isn’t a huge organisation or a slick sponsor-funded production. It’s just me – and the amazing team at OnlineEvents -trying to do something!
We’re keeping it online. We’re offering sliding scale pricing. We’re doing everything we can to hold the door open.
But it will only work if people show up.
So if any of this resonates, I’d love your help.
- Book your ticket (here)
- Share the event with others
- Encourage someone to submit a session idea
Whether you’re deeply embedded in the ED field, or just someone who cares – you are so welcome.
You can read a little more on the VOXED event page here.
Let’s do something different.
Let’s do something that matters.
Let’s see what we can build—together.
